Does getting a filling hurt?
No. We use profound local anaesthesia to ensure the tooth is completely numb before we begin. You may feel some pressure or vibration during the procedure, but you should not feel any pain. For anxious patients, we also offer IV Sedation.
How long does a composite filling last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, a composite filling can last between 5 and 10 years, and often much longer. However, they can wear down over time from chewing and grinding, and may eventually need to be replaced.
Can I eat immediately after getting a filling?
Because composite fillings are hardened instantly with a curing light, you can technically eat right away. However, we strongly advise waiting until the local anaesthesia has completely worn off (usually 2 to 3 hours) to prevent you from accidentally biting your tongue, lip, or cheek while they are numb.
